Romance Recession

I was browsing the net looking at the latest lifestyle trends when I chanced upon this cute image from CafePress.
It was so cute that it inspired me to blog about Romance Recession. This now is my attempt to draw the many parallels between an economic recession and a romance recession.

Just think, the recession America is having now is so pervasive that even the Love Department has not been spared.   How many friends have I got that have been "laid off" by their "EXes"?   I have heard far too many stories of how a partner has "defaulted" on his/her commitments.   Much like the credit crunch in the US, there is also a boyfriend crunch nowadays.  And my single friends know better than those bankers in Wall Street, that is, they wouldn't do business with the so-called NINJAs (No Income, No Job, No Assets).
In this age of foreclosed promises, repossessed hearts and great depressions, a ROMANCE RECESSION like what many of us are having now is totally chic.  So en vouge.  To my dear single friends, do not fret. You are in fashion!

But there is hope still. A recession will not last forever.  Remember that America finally has her Knight in Shining Armor who is dressed in a black and white suit and answers to the name Barrack Obama.   Who knows what sorts of salvation you will have this year?  You just might get your bail out package after all. Or maybe, you'll discover that you'll be happier being a self sustained individual sans the partner.   Whatever the case, things will look up for us.  When you're down, there is nowhere to go but up.

In the meantime, when someone asks you why you are still single or unattached, you now have a witty and very relevant retort:   I AM HAVING A ROMANCE RECESSION.

And if he/she still doesn't get it, just say: IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID!
